Northeast for weekends with “strong winds and heavy rain”

The Met Office issued a “yellow weather warning” for hours of storms and rain tomorrow in the northeast over the weekend.

A warning will be in effect tomorrow from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. covering coastal areas in south and east England and the weather in our area is likely to consist of heavy persistent rains and storms.

Nationwide delays in road, rail, air and ferry traffic are likely, the Met Office warned.

There is also a risk of short-term power outages, as well as splashes or flooding on roads.

The Met Office added, “It is likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and / or large waves.”

A separate yellow rain warning has also been issued for Northern Scotland and will apply from 4pm tomorrow to 6am on Sunday.

“On Saturday increasingly wet and windy, in the afternoon it can come to heavy continuous rain. Storms over hills and on coasts likely. Wind and rain decrease later. Maximum temperature 12 ° C.

“On Sundays and Mondays it rains heavily at times and possibly thunderstorms. In the afternoon and evening, strong winds and heavy rains are expected, which lead to travel interruptions.”
