Police close the road after three car accidents in Gateshead

Police have closed a street in Tyneside after a three car accident.

Emergency services such as the fire brigade and ambulance were on duty.

Fire brigades cut open the roofs of the cars with the jaws of life in order to save the occupants.

At around 2:20 p.m. this afternoon, paramedics were called to the incident.

Two ambulances, a paramedic and a security team were dispatched.

Two patients were transported from the crime scene to the Newcastle RVI.

The road remains closed as the debris from the cars has yet to be removed, and the police are urging drivers to find alternative routes.
