RECAP: Road and car park closed as emergency services respond to Moel Famau glider incident

Safe landing

The crashed glider on Moel Famau has now been safely recovered and arrived back at Denbigh Gliding Club airfield moments ago.

Explaining today’s landing at Moel Famau, Chief Instructor Chris Gill said the landing site was not ideal but was deemed safe by the pilot.

He is an extremely experienced pilot.

We often fly the ridge lift along the ridges where a lot of people walk.

If lift is lost these gliders can be landed very safely to within a few centimetres.

In this case, the pilot would have deemed the landing site safe, with no one around and no danger to the public.
