The Milton Keynes-based squad has been much more aggressive in developing their RB16B than title rival Mercedes with their own car.
While Mercedes had a very limited development program, with possibly a final upgrade for the British Grand Prix, Red Bull has been pushing continuously to improve its chassis.
It worked on all areas of the car including the wings, diffuser, floor and bargeboard area for more power.
After his victory at the Austrian Grand Prix, which gave him another lead over Mercedes in the title standings, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner said that the team was still very focused on continuing with its current challenger.
“You have to race week after week, race after race, and I think the team is doing a great job of overcoming the challenges of this year and next,” he said of the potential not to risk his efforts in 2022.
“This is nothing new. I mean, a lot is being made of it at the moment, but we’ve had big regulatory changes in the past so you need to balance your resources and apply them to what’s needed most. I think the team works incredibly hard, extremely well and effectively. “

Despite having won the last five races, Red Bull has no illusions that the British GP next week will be a tougher challenge for Red Bull.
The Silverstone track has so far shown the strengths of the Mercedes aero package better and will therefore provide a perfect indicator of whether Red Bull currently has a car that is faster on all tracks or not.

Horner added: “It’s a shame we don’t have any more races in Austria because now we’re driving on a track that has really been a Mercedes stronghold for seven years.
“There are also other challenges with the introduction of the sprint race and a different format this weekend. Mercedes has of course been extremely strong there over the years. And, Lewis [Hamilton] also has his home help. So we expect it to be a big challenge.
“We know it’s such a stronghold for Mercedes. So it will be exciting to see whether we can take this form with us in our next home race.
“I think we’ve found a good working window with the car in the last few races and I think we can hopefully work within that window at Silverstone.”
