The two-door coupe will hit the market in late 2023 and will lead the luxury brand’s complete move away from the internal combustion engine.
Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce, confirmed when announcing the market launch of his first electric vehicle that the entire product range will be purely electric by 2030.

The brand previously said that while electric propulsion was well suited for its jobs, it would only switch if it believed the technology was ready to deliver the full experience that Rolls-Royce customers demand.
Müller-Ötvös unveiled the Specter before a widely visible test program and called the announcement the “most important” day in Rolls-Royce’s history since the founders agreed in 1904 to do business together.
He said, “We are entering this brave new future with a huge advantage. The electric drive is unique and perfectly suited to Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, more than any other automobile brand. It’s quiet, refined, and almost instantly generates torque that creates tremendous power. At Rolls-Royce we call that ‘waftability’. “
The camouflaged prototype shows a sleek coupe body that is similar in size and shape to the existing Wraith. Quotes from XX are printed above the body, emphasizing how well electrical power would go with a Rolls-Royce.

Müller-Ötvös emphasized that although the Specter is owned by BMW, which has its own EV development program, it will not share a platform with any BMW product.
Instead, the same scalable aluminum architecture is used that underpins the Phantom, Ghost and Cullinan models.
He added, “Freed from a common platform-sharing strategy, we were able to incorporate our plans for an electric powertrain into the original design of the architecture and ensure that this extraordinary new product meets the extremely high expectations of our customers.”
While Müller-Ötvös was happy to talk about the car’s ambitions and long-term plan for the brand, he didn’t reveal anything about the Specter’s powertrain, but said that road tests were already underway before the car was released in the third quarter of 2023.
The test regime, in his opinion, will be the most demanding in the brand’s history, with cars “in sight” covering 1.5 million miles – the equivalent of more than 400 years of use for the average Rolls-Royce in “all conditions and terrain” . “.
