Thanet: New overhead images show huge hole in Margate Lido parking lot

Dramatic overhead images have shown the extent of a huge hole in the ground in a parking lot in Thanet.

The sinkhole appeared this afternoon (November 1st) in the parking lot of Margate Lido.

The collapse of the parking lot left a hole that is said to be almost 40 square meters.

Pictures show debris that has collapsed within the sinkhole, with barriers surrounding the edge.

The hole in the ground appeared at the bottom of the parking lot on the side closest to the sea.

The place is not far from where the David Attenborough mural appeared that summer.

The incredible portrait of Britain’s most popular wildlife and environmental activist caught the attention of Margate residents.

Barriers were implemented around the sinkhole

Thanet District Council said they will install barriers in the parking lot to keep the public safe.

Margate Lido is located on Ethelbert Terrace between Margate and Palm Bay.
