A car leasing company in Exeter bought 100 Tesla Model 3 electric vehicles from Elon Musk – and leased more than 60 to businesses in just one week.
Carparison, based at Hill Barton Business Park, loved the appetite for vehicles that can travel up to 360 miles on a single charge.
The company said the exceptional range and charging times – just 15 minutes for a 172 mile drive – as well as the “badge pull” of the Tesla name mean companies were interested in getting their hands on one of the cars.
Founded in 2018, Carparison rents a range of electric vehicles as well as for home and business use. Brands like Seat, Ford and Citroen are among the top offers.

Vehicle leasing, also known as contract rental, is a financing option that is similar to rental in that customers use a vehicle for an agreed time before returning it.
Carparison received 100 Tesla Model 3 vehicles in early April and had fewer than 40 in stock in 10 days.
“The majority of tenants have closed deals,” said Carparison’s Ryan Darby. “We have some companies in the Southwest that have taken them out. They’ve done particularly well, but then they’re the crème de la crème for electric vehicles. “
One of the companies co-founded by entrepreneur Elon Musk, Tesla began shipping its Model 3 Tesla in 2017, a mass-market electric vehicle available in three brands: Long Range, Standard Plus and Performance.
When they were first launched, retail prices started at £ 26,650, but Carparison is offering the Standard and Long Range models for £ 432 and £ 459 per month, respectively.
“They come with a specific price tag, but have the best range and loading times on the market,” said Mr Darby. “
The Model 3, which goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 162 mph, has an exceptionally fast charge time, especially when using Tesla’s Supercharger device, which is powered by the company’s own charging system connected is.
And Mr. Darby said, “This is a great charm. You can charge overnight, but the convenience that a Tesla offers is second to none. And at Tesla there is this badge power, the badge train. “
