The off-duty garbage truck driver crashes into the vehicle and turns the car over after going to the shops after drinking at home

An off duty garbage truck driver crashed into a parked car and overturned his own vehicle after going over the limit.

Christopher Bunn, 33, was driving his Seat at Galley’s Bank, Kidsgrove when he lost control and his car overturned in the resulting collision.

Police rushed to the scene and said they could see the defendant was drinking, Stoke-on-Trent reports Live.

He was taken to the police station, where he was subjected to a breath analysis and showed a reading of 47 micrograms of alcohol in 100 milliliters of breath against the legal limit of 35.

Now Bunn, who was driving a garbage truck for Newcastle Borough Council, faced a 12 month driving ban and a £ 516 court bill at the North Staffordshire Justice Center.

Prosecutor Emma Thompson said the defendant drove his Seat car into Galley’s Bank in Kidsgrove at 7:50 p.m. on August 1 when he lost control.

She said, “He collided with an unattended parked car. The car overturned during the collision. There were no passengers. It was clear that he had been drinking milliliters of breath, against the legal limit of 35. “

“A bit of change fell out of his pocket. It distracted him for a moment. He is lucky that he was only slightly injured. His hand and face were cut. The car has been written off. A parked vehicle was damaged . ” He was with the owner and apologized, it was his fault, he shouldn’t have driven.

“This will make him suffer financially. He is a garbage collector for the Newcastle Borough Council. He has been on the council for 16 years. He’s been a truck driver for the past few years. He will sit down with the council and hopefully find some other occupation. “

The judges fined Bunn £ 346 and sentenced him to pay £ 135 in costs plus a £ 35 surcharge.

The bank’s chairman, Chris Rushton, said, “The court is grim about any excess alcohol.

“You were punished in many ways. Your work had an impact. The car is a write-off. It was a tough lesson.”

The ban will be shortened by 13 weeks if Bunn takes a rehabilitation course for alcohol drivers.
