The purchase from the trunk sale is a £ 2 million | diamond news

A rare diamond, once considered worthless and almost thrown in the trash can, was valued at £ 2 million.

The owner, a woman in her seventies, can’t remember where she bought the diamond, but believes it might have been picked up at a fleet sale. She found it an appreciation with a box of costume jewelry after doing a clearance to shrink her collection.

The stone, which is roughly the size of a pound coin, has been certified by experts in Antwerp as 34.19 carat color H VS1, which is exceptionally rare.

Mark Lane, owner of Featonby’s auctioneers in North Shields, North Tyneside, told the BBC the owner said “it almost landed in the bin before her neighbor suggested bringing it”.
