These new sedans are as fast as supercars

There was a time when rocket-like acceleration and straight-line performance were reserved exclusively for supercars. That has changed today as dynamic consumer needs and advances in automotive technology continue to blur the lines between these high-performance supercars and the more conventionally styled cars like the family sedans. Well, it’s not uncommon to have proper family sedans that not only offer more performance than supercars, but are also capable of using them effectively for incredible performance in the real world. Some of these sedans can even be taken to the racetracks to find out where the real limits are.

The evolution continues with cars like the Tesla Model S Plaid and the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, which show us how far the performance limits can be stretched. Check out some of these sedans that are some of the fastest on the market right now; Cars with enough grunts to challenge even the “sacred” supercars in the real world.

This German powerhouse checks all the boxes for a premium sedan, albeit one with an inconspicuous, unobtrusive profile. It has 4 doors, room for adults and ample trunk space and yes, it is also very expensive at around $ 160,000. What it also has, however, is a supercar kick and the ability to sprint from 60 mph in an astounding 2.9 seconds before transitioning to a top speed of 195 mph.

This ridiculous feat is largely due to the car’s powerplant; a 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 engine developing 630 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. Obviously, this is not for the faint of heart.

That power is sent to all 4 wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission and is enough to blow the sedan to 60 mph in about 3.8 seconds. It’s not quite on par with the more established powerhouses like the AMG GT63s, but it also costs almost $ 100,000 less, making it a real bargain.
