Electric cars will cost as much as gasoline and diesel equivalents in just four years to accelerate the move away from polluting vehicles, according to a transport minister.
Rachel Maclean said the total cost of ownership would balance out by around 2025 as manufacturing and battery costs decrease.
Electric cars can cost up to £ 10,000 more than comparable gasoline and diesel models, a significant barrier to sales.
