Two teenagers and a man are in hospital – one of them with life-threatening injuries – after a car collided with a lamppost in Hinckley this morning.
A 17-year-old, along with an 18-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man, is being treated for life-threatening injuries at Coventry and Warwickshire University Hospital after the accident on the A47.
An 18-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of being drunk driving.
Leicestershire Police are now asking witnesses who may have seen the car – a blue Honda – before the collision to report.
Rescue workers were called to the crime scene on Dodswell Road this morning after 3:00 a.m. (August 24), where three inmates had to be “thrown” from a car by fire and rescue workers.

The A47 and A5 were closed in the early hours of the morning until rush hour.
Officials reopened the A5 just before 8 a.m. this morning, but a section of the A47 is still closed more than six hours later as the investigation continues.

Detective Constable Kasie Carter of the SCIU said, “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the blue Honda before it happened.
“The collision occurred near an industrial area and I want to speak to all motorists who were in the area at the time, including truck drivers, with dashcams installed in their vehicles.
“Anything you can provide could help our investigation.”
