Police announced today that a woman in her 80s was seriously injured in a traffic accident at an intersection in Rotherham.
The elderly woman was walking at the intersection of Wortley Road and Old Wortley Road in the Kimberworth area when she was hit by a car at 10:24 a.m. this morning, November 22nd.
The officers quickly blocked the street in both directions while paramedics took care of the woman.

She was hospitalized with what are believed to be serious injuries, the police said.
An accident investigation was then launched which resulted in the road remaining closed until this afternoon.
South Yorkshire Police said the investigation is ongoing and has asked anyone who witnessed the incident to call 101 on incident number 229 on Nov. 22nd.

At around 1 p.m. the troop tweeted: “Please note that the intersection of Old Wortley Road and Wortley Road in Kimberworth is closed as investigations into a road collision are taking place earlier today.
“Motorists are advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes.”
The bus routes were diverted around the blockade until the road was reopened in both directions at around 5 p.m.
