Woman trapped in overturned car near Tiverton

A driver was rescued from a car lying on its side after an accident near Tiverton.

Witheridge firefighters participated in the incident on the outskirts of Black Dog today (Aug 22) after receiving reports of the collision with a single vehicle.

The crews used small tools and stabilizers to rescue the woman trapped on the public road.

In a statement on their website, a spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Services said: “Witheridge crews participated in a road collision with a vehicle on the outskirts of Black Dog.

“An injured man was trapped in the vehicle lying on its side on the public road.

“The crews used small tools and stabilization devices that enabled the injured person to free himself [themselves] from the vehicle.

“The injured person was placed in the hands of the rescue personnel.”
