You can buy a Peugeot 806 minivan in the Super Touring spec

The only existing Peugeot 806 in the Super Touring * specification could be yours, which is currently for sale at Gipimotor in Belgium.

The French people carrier was built in 1995 and took part in the Spa-Francorchamps 24 Hours.

While the car was built to order by the Peugeot marketing team, it was actually quite competitive despite its size.

The car was built by Kronos Racing and driven in endurance racing by a Belgian trio – Eric Bachelart, Philip Verellen and Pascal Witmeur (who ordered the car to be built).

“Every time we passed the Raidillon, people applauded. The public liked it because it was not only atypical, but often on two wheels, ”said Witmeur.

The trio put the car in 12th place overall and third in its class. And that brings us back to the * at the beginning of the article.

While the car is generally considered to be a Super Touring specification, it was built according to Division 2 regulations of the Belgian Procar Championship, which differed slightly from the Super Touring regulations (FIA Class II).

Most of the parts were carried over from the Peugeot 405 Super Touring model, while the engine was a mix of the 405 engine and the engine of a Peugeot 306 Group A rally car.

The engine developed around 260 hp and was thus slightly below the performance of the Super Touring equivalents of the time.

However, prior to making his racing debut as an opponent, there was controversy and the racing organization had doubts about the safety of the car and its high center of gravity.

But the car was eventually approved and stunned opponents as they qualified 12th of 47 cars for the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race.

However, the impressive pace of qualification did not lead to a strong race result.

The team suffered from many technical problems, including brakes, differentials, engine mounts and ultimately engine damage at the terminal that caused the trio to withdraw from the race.

The car has since been restored and is now for sale, albeit at the currently unlisted price.

Go to Gipimotor if you want to own a unique piece of touring car history.
