A man was hospitalized after his car crashed into a river in Co Derry on New Years Day.
Police have confirmed that officers have received a report of a traffic accident that occurred on Saturday January 1st in the Magheramore Road area of Dungiven.
At around 9:05 a.m. it was reported that a car had hit a bridge nearby and drove into the river.
A man was rushed to the hospital after the incident.

In a posting on Facebook, the NIFRS Western Area Command confirmed that it was also involved in the incident.
Several Derry fire departments responded to the incident on the outskirts of Dungiven this morning.

“Firefighters from Dungiven and Limavady, supported by special crews from Crescent Link and Central Fire Stations, responded this morning to an incident involving a vehicle in the water on the outskirts of Dungiven,” said NIFRS.
“The vehicle driver was rescued by the first crews present and a subsequent systemic river search was carried out until the PSNI confirmed that all vehicle occupants had been recorded.”
A man was rushed to the hospital after the incident.

The investigation is ongoing and the police have asked anyone with information related to the incident to contact number 101 with reference number 967 dated 01/01/22.
