Bridgend County Borough Council is investing £ 86,500 in additional security improvements to the parking lot and drop-off point at Coleg Cymunedol Y Dderwen.
The work, which will take seven weeks, will introduce a new one-way system for buses and vehicles visiting the school for dropping off and picking up students.
A series of speed bumps will ensure drivers do not exceed the mandatory limit and a new Pelican crossing point will be installed to ensure students, staff and visitors can cross the road safely.
Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd. was commissioned to carry out the work, which takes place daily between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. in order to avoid peak times for delivery and collection.
Cllr Charles Smith, Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration, said, “The council regularly reviews the safety of the use of school premises around the campus.
“These new improvements will help ensure the safety of staff, students, parents, carers, guardians and school-goers, and every effort will be made to avoid inconvenience and get the job done as quickly as possible.”
