A New York City woman whose parked car was rammed by another vehicle was shot in the leg during a shootout between rival tow truck companies battling for business.

Susy Delgado, 48, says she is grateful to be alive after being shot through her thigh in Queens Saturday night after two truck companies showed up to hook up her badly damaged car smashed by a fast-moving Range Rover became.

Delgado told the New York Daily News that she called the police for help, but the towing companies showed up first, likely through wiretapping of police scanners.

Delgado says when the tow truck workers arrived they got into a heated argument over who was allowed to tow their car when one of them drew a gun and shot his competitor and instead hit the 48-year-old.

“I’m lucky the bullet didn’t take my life,” Delgado told the Daily News. “I don’t know what this world is getting at.”

Delgado said the men started arguing and then things quickly escalated.

“They argued about it and then one of the guys wanted to get into an argument – and one of the guys pulled out the gun and started shooting,” Delgado said. “I heard the bullets and when I turned around it hit me.”

She said she was trying to escape the conflict when a stray bullet struck her right thigh.

“I felt the pain in my leg,” she said. ‘I fell down. My husband was right next to me. He tried to calm me down. … I have prayed to see my children again. ‘

After gunfire fell, both tow trucks left the scene and Delgado’s brother-in-law called 911 for help.

‘I screamed’ I need help! ‘ “Delgado told the Daily News. “I was bleeding like crazy. The bullet went through – came through one side and came out through the back. ‘

She was taken to a local hospital for treatment and returned home on crutches the next day.

She says it is the first time she has seen gun violence in her neighborhood.

“I’ve lived in this area for seven years,” she said. “Nothing has ever happened to weapons here in my life.”

Expressing her aversion to guns, Delgado said, “Why do people carry guns? “Whoever invented weapons is the worst invention ever.”

Delgado was forced to call 911 after a Range Rover rammed into her car, driven by a young man who was part of a group of cars spinning on the block.

After colliding with her parked car, the young man jumped into another car and drove off, leaving his vehicle, the Daily News reported.

Delgado says she is still struck by the gunfire and that she has never encountered a gun before Saturday.

“I heard the sounds in the movies, but not personally,” she said. “I want my life to go back to normal. I want my son to graduate. … I just want my family to be at peace. I just want peace in this world. This world is not at peace. ‘
