A 78-year-old woman was dragged from her car outside Tesco in a horrific attack

An elderly woman was dragged out of her car in a Tesco parking lot by a young man before he drove away in the vehicle.

The incident occurred last night (November 10) on Silk Street, Rochdale, just before 8:20 p.m.

The 78-year-old woman was visiting the store to do her shopping when she was robbed by the young man.

He grabbed her, dragged her out of her orange Toyota Aygo, and drove her car towards Manchester Road.

The woman is “grieved” after the ordeal, but was not injured.

The police are now asking for clues to help locate the young man.

He is believed to be between 16 and 18 years old, about 5 feet 2 inches tall, and wearing a surgical mask, gray sweatpants, and a dark top.

Rochdale borough inspector Paul Mason said, “This was a terrible ordeal for an elderly woman just doing her shopping and the officers immediately opened an investigation and conducted a series of investigations.

“Fortunately, she has not suffered any injuries, but is understandably desperate and we are doing everything we can to find the person responsible and to find her vehicle.

“The woman’s vehicle has a special color – orange – and we ask everyone who has seen it to contact us.

“Anyone who witnessed the robbery or anyone who recognizes the man described should also contact us – even the smallest information can help our investigations.
