A main street in Derby was closed overnight after a serious accident that killed a young girl.
Part of Harvey Road in Allenton was closed on Saturday evening, November 21, between Coleman Street and Stanley Road, near the gas station, and Neilson Street and Matthew Road.
It remained closed until the early hours of the morning after the death of 17-year-old Keely Birks, who was described as “kindhearted” in tributes.

Derbyshire Police have issued a statement saying they believe they have found the Vauxhall Astra that was involved in the accident.
However, the driver of the vehicle is still at large.
The police statement said: “A young girl who was killed in a collision on Harvey Road last night was referred to as Keely Birks.
“The 17-year-old was involved in a collision with an Opel Astra at around 8 p.m. and unfortunately died a short time later.
“Your family and friends will receive technical support from our officers.
“Our investigations into the circumstances are ongoing, but we can confirm that we have found the allegedly involved vehicle.
“We want to ask the public to be patient as we work to track down those involved and encourage people not to speculate on social media.
“Residents in the vicinity of the collision site are likely to see an increased police presence today as the officers continue their investigations.
“Detectives from the specialized police collision investigation unit now want to hear witnesses who may be able to help them – especially any drivers with dashcam footage that may contain important evidence.”
Harvey Road reopened at 8 a.m. this morning.
