The area is being searched with the assistance of the Scottish Mountain Rescue Team.

Dumbarton Police Station Inspector Emma Louise Scott said, “We are increasingly concerned about Frank and the police and partner agencies are making significant efforts to locate him.

“I would like to ask anyone who thinks they have seen or spoken to Frank at any time since Thursday morning to contact me urgently.

“I would also like to ask all other hikers in the area to be vigilant, and if you think you have information that might help with your search, please get in touch.

“Anyone who has seen Frank or has information about his whereabouts is urged to contact the Scottish Police on Incident Number 0922 dated August 7th via 101.”

Frank is described as six feet tall and slender, with gray hair thinning at the top.

Most recently, it was known that he wore a dark jacket, gray trousers, a white shirt and a striking white sun cap.
