A Wigan pensioner struggles for his life in the hospital after a car accident in Cumbria

A Wigan pensioner struggles for his life in the hospital after a car accident in Cumbria.

The 76-year-old suffered serious internal injuries in the accident near the Kemplay Bank roundabout on the A66 in Penrith on Monday afternoon.

He was driving a silver Ford C-Max when it crashed around 4:20 p.m. in a white Scania truck with a log cabin.

The retiree was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary and later transferred to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

His condition is described as critical but stable.

The Scania driver was not injured.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the police on 101 using incident number 127 of May 10 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
