Accident with unmarked Winnipeg police car sends 3 to hospital

Two cars were left in crumpled piles on Thursday evening and three people were hospitalized in an unmarked police car after an accident.

The unmarked cruiser was traveling south on Main Street near College Avenue when it collided with a woman’s car at around 7 p.m., Winnipeg police said in a press release.

The woman, in her mid-twenties, suffered a vertebral fracture and is in stable condition in the hospital. Two officers from the cruiser were also hospitalized, one suspected of having a broken arm. They have been treated and released.

Main Street between Mountain and Redwood Avenues was closed to traffic for several hours after the accident.
