Autocar Confidential: Cupra boss car collection, VW on self-driving cars and more

This week our reporters asked the person in charge at Cupra what else he drives, to find out what brand leaders really think of autonomous cars, and asked if hydrogen is getting closer to the mainstream.

A Cupra collection

What does Seat and Cupra boss Wayne Griffiths drive when he’s not in his company car? “I have a Mk1 1966 Jaguar E-Type Cabriolet in red,” the Briton proudly tells us and shows us a picture on his cell phone. We would if we lived near the Spanish coast.

Autonomy has its advantages

“Everyone loves to drive cars, to have fun, but sometimes it’s boring.” Perhaps bluntly, but Volkswagen boss Ralf Brandstätter would like to praise the advantages of self-driving technology. “In the future you can decide what you want to do with the additional quality time that we give our customers,” he said. Traffic jams could soon offer additional opportunities to work or relax.
