Boy taken to hospital after a car accident in Coventry

The Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance was called to an accident site in Coventry this afternoon (Monday) after a boy was hit by a car.

The collision occurred shortly before 3:20 p.m. at the intersection of Woodway Lane and Linwood Drive in Woodway Park.

Part of Woodway Lane was closed after the incident and a number of buses were diverted.

The West Midlands Ambulance Service said the affected boy had been rushed to hospital but his injuries were not serious.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called for reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian at the intersection of Woodway Lane and Linwood Drive at 3:18 pm.

“Two ambulances, a paramedic and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance were on site.

“On arrival we discovered a patient, a boy, who was the pedestrian.

“He was treated for minor injuries before being taken to Coventry and Warwickshire University Hospital in a rural ambulance.

“The driver of the car, a man, was unharmed in the incident.”

West Midlands Police have been contacted with details of the collision.

Transportation for West Midlands said the National Express 8, 8a and 20c, but the services were rerouted after the collision.

It was said that services would be diverted in both directions along Narberth Way and Wigston Road.
