Brighton and Hove News »Car overturns in an accident on the A27 Brighton Bypass near Hangleton

A car overturned in an accident on the A27 Brighton bypass near Hangleton, police said today (Tuesday 10 August).

Sussex Police said: “Police are requesting information following a collision on the A27 near Hangleton on Monday (August 9th).

“A BMW overturned and a Mercedes Sprinter was left upside down in the incident at 7.55 am near the intersection with the A293 Hangleton Link Road.

“The driver of the BMW, a 37-year-old man from Brighton, had to be freed from his vehicle.

“He suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for treatment.

“Officials blocked the lane to the west, while paramedics took care of the accident and the vehicles were recovered.

“After the collision, a 42-year-old man from Göring was arrested on suspicion of serious injury from dangerous driving, drug driving and possession of cannabis.

“He was released as part of an investigation.

“The road was opened again in the late morning.”

Investigator PC Steven Bucksey said, “We are requesting witnesses to the collision.

“Anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident should email Kollision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial number 204, dated 09/08.”
