Firefighters extinguished a car fire on Cross Street in Ryde, Isle of Wight at 3 a.m. today (October 15) after receiving many 999 calls from residents woken by the fire.
Crews from the Ryde Fire Station participated in the incident at the intersection of Cross Street and Harding Road at 3:13 a.m. and quickly put out the Vauxhall Zafira, which was well on fire
The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes and is not considered suspicious.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire Control tweeted, “@ rydefire2020 is currently investigating a vehicle fire near Harding Road and Cross Street, Ryde. Several calls were received in the control room and many residents were woken up.
“Update – stop at 0355 – a car destroyed by fire, a hose reel used, two breathing apparatus worn.”
