Car “written off” as an accident causes M62 traffic to come to a standstill

An accident on the M62 motorway this morning brought traffic to a standstill this morning.

The accident that occurred on the M62 eastbound between junctions 11 and 12 temporarily closed the lanes.

At around 6:30 a.m., rescue workers rushed to the crime scene near Warrington and Birchwood.

The North West Motorway Police, which participated in the accident, said an alleged alcohol driver was involved and a car had been “written off”.

They added that the alleged drinks driver “would likely lose his driver’s license”.

No news of serious injuries was reported, but the lanes on the motorway between Warrington East and Birchwood were closed when vehicles were recovered.

Shortly before 8 a.m., the remaining lanes were released again.

A North West Motorway Police spokesman wrote on their social media pages: “Lane 1 on the M62 EB between J11 and J12 is currently closed due to another drunk driver having an accident.

“Car is a depreciation that is likely to lose your driver’s license which could affect your employment! Is it really worth it? # Fatal5”.
