JACKSONVILLE, Florida. – A child died in a Thursday afternoon accident involving a vehicle his older brother was driving in a driveway in the Sherwood Forest neighborhood, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Police said they responded to an accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Little John Road around 3:45 p.m.
JSO Sgt. M. Lundquist said officers learned that an unauthorized youth was moving a vehicle in the driveway when he ran over his younger brother who was dying in a hospital.
The age of the children was not disclosed immediately.
Maefred Haynes lives next door. He said another neighbor was trying to prevent the tragedy.
“The young man saw it and yelled at him in the car to stop, you know your brother is behind you and he didn’t hear him. He ran over to try to do CPR, ”Haynes said.
Haynes said he often saw the family outside.
“You’re like an all-American family. You know they’ll be there in the yard, they’ll have their little blowup pool. All the kids are always out there playing basketball or something, ”he said.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, some of those involved do not necessarily cooperate with the investigation. The sheriff’s office was unable to comment on whether anyone was charged.
