County Durham man faces trial for alleged Audi car-jacking

A MAN has denied charges arising out of an alleged knifepoint car-jacking.

Darren John Waugh is now to stand trial in June having denied three charges put to him at a plea hearing at Durham Crown Court.

The prosecution alleges that he robbed a man of an Audi A3 vehicle and its contents on Saturday January 29 this year.

He also pleaded guilty to a charge of having an article with a blade or point, namely a craft-type knife, in Thornfield Road, Consett, on the same day.

The defendant also denies handling stolen goods, the Audi A3, between Friday February 4 and Monday February 7, also this year.

Defense Counsel Lewis Kerr said his client and the owner of the car knew each other, with bank transactions said to have taken place between them.

The case was adjourned for a trial at the court on Monday June 20.
