Surat: A city-based doctor became the target of a gang that distracted people and stole belonging from their vehicles, especially cars.
Dr Jenny Sharma (30), a resident of Ruvulet Apartment in Maghdalla, lost Rs 45,000 cash which was kept in her purse lying on the back seat of her luxury car.
According to a police complaint filed by Sharma she works as a consultant at a private hospital on Rander Road.
On Thursday evening, she went to a hotel in Umra area for some refreshments. The car was driven by her driver Hemant Shukla.
When Sharma returned she found her purse with Rs 45,000 cash missing. When he asked Shukla, he told her that some unidentified persons distracted him saying there was oil leakage from the car engine.
When Shukla went to check, the man stole the purse from the car. Following this Sharma lodged a complaint on Friday.
