Dog dies after being ejected from a moving car traveling at 60 mph

Police are hunting down gruesome thugs who killed a dog by hurling it out of a moving truck as it was traveling at 60 mph.

Chris Hallam, 18, was traumatized after seeing the Lurcher knocked out of the oncoming vehicle while driving on the A52 in Radcliffe-on-Trent, Notts.

He said he was on the expressway around 2:45 pm on Wednesday when he saw something “flying through the air”.

McDonald’s employee Chris got out of his vehicle and hurried to the seriously injured one-year-old pooch who was lying in a pool of blood on the side of the road.

He put the dog, named Ice, in the trunk of his car and took him to the Minster Vets in Notttingham – but his injuries were so severe that he had to be euthanized.

Chris of Whatton, Notts. Said, “It was just the worst thing I’ve ever seen, poor thing didn’t stand a chance.

“I was driving down the street when I was flying something as I passed an old farm-type pick-up truck coming in the opposite direction.

“I stopped at a rest stop and ran over to help and two other guys who also stopped said they had just seen some commotion in the back seat when it happened.

“So we’re pretty sure it was thrown on purpose and we just don’t understand how anyone could do such a thing to a dog.

“The noise that was coming from him was heartbreaking, he was in so much pain that I took him to the RSPCA first.

“But they said there was nothing they could do, so I took him to a vet and they came to my car and sedated him and put him on a stretcher.

“I went to work and my mom called me later to say it didn’t survive.

“He had broken pelvic bones and internal injuries that could not be operated on.

“I was devastated because if he had lived we would give him his home forever.

“We know his name was Ice on the microchip, but the shady thing was when the vets called up the name on the chip, they just said, ‘Oh, I sold that dog.’

“I am convinced that this was done on purpose. If it were an accident, you would know something happened and you would stop.

“You wouldn’t go away and leave him there on the side of the road to die.”

A vet spokeswoman added, “He was just so scared and in great pain.

“We had to sedate him in the back of the car before we could take him to the exam. Then the scans showed the problems of the internal injuries.”

Nottinghamshire Police have opened an investigation and requested any witness or person with information to contact you.

Inspector Rob Lawton said he was “deeply saddened” by the incident and asked anyone with information or dashcam material to come forward.

He added, “While the vehicle does not need to be tracked just yet, we will of course review any new or additional information that is made available to us.”
