A drink driver was arrested after traveling down a major motorway with their bonnet lid hanging clean off.
The motorist was pulled over by “shocked” police officers while taking their Fiat for a spin down the M6, in Cumbria, on Thursday.
Pictures supplied by Lancashire Road Police showed the vehicle’s engine bay exposed and a crack running down the bottom of its windscreen.

Officers had been on a driving course when they saw the car.
After they noticed the clear danger that the vehicle posed, officers said they were “confronted” by the driver.
The “very obstructive drunk driver” was then swiftly arrested.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Road police said: “Officers on a driving course were shocked to see this vehicle traveling on the M6 south in Cumbria this afternoon.
“Seeing the obvious danger they intervened and stopped the vehicle to be confronted by a very obstructive drunk driver who was swiftly arrested.”
