Driver in critical condition after the car drove into the house

The driver of a car that crashed into a house in Stalybridge is in critical condition in the hospital, according to police.

Emergency services rushed to the collision on Ridge Hill Lane just after 1 a.m. yesterday morning (Saturday, May 15).

The driver – a woman – was hospitalized and three passengers were slightly injured, according to the Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

The corner of a house was completely destroyed in the crash and Ridge Hill Lane was closed in both directions.

A number of people who lived on the street were also evacuated.

“Police were called just after 1am on Saturday, May 15, for reports of a car crashing into a house on Ridge Hill Lane in Stalybridge,” a GMP spokesman said.

“Ambulance services were present and the driver was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

“Three other people in the car were slightly injured at the time.

“A small number of addresses have been evacuated as a precaution and the road has been closed in both directions.”

The road remains closed today.
