Drivers hospitalized after rollover in Widnes

A driver was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure after his car overturned in Widnes.

At 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, the emergency services were called to Waterloo Road.

Firefighters helped free a person trapped in the vehicle who had fallen over on a bridge driveway.

A Cheshire police spokesman said a 64-year-old man was taken to the hospital as a precaution but was not injured.

Telephone footage seen by In Your Area shows firefighters and a rescue vehicle at the scene near a crumpled barrier that appears to be at the junction with John Collins Way near the Mersey Gateway exit.

Two fire engines from Runcorn and Widnes, Cheshire, participated in the incident.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said, “Firefighters helped rescue a person trapped in the vehicle, they were then turned over to paramedics.

“The crews were present for about 30 minutes.”

Anyone watching the collision was asked to contact the Cheshire Police Department by calling 101 and reporting IML 1101484 or reporting it online.
