Emergency services dealing with a four car accident on the A5 in Shrewsbury

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Services, along with police and ambulance services, were called to an accident involving four vehicles on the A5.

The incident occurred on the A5 in Shrewsbury on the road between Emstrey Island and Preston Island.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We received a call from police at 3:49 pm for reports of a multi-vehicle RTC on the A5 in Shrewsbury.

“We currently have three ambulances, a paramedic, a base doctor and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford on site.”

Four fire extinguishers, including the rescue service, have been mobilized from Shrewsbury and Wellington stations, and a supervisor is present.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: “We received a call at 3:45 pm about a multi-vehicle collision on the A5 between Emstrey and Preston Islands in Shrewsbury. The road is currently blocked.

“The road will remain closed at this point while the vehicles are being recovered. The extent of the injuries is currently unknown.”
