Costa Coffee will install up to 200 quick chargers for electric cars in its transit locations across the UK.
The leading coffee chain has teamed up with the InstaVolt electric car charging system to introduce the sockets that will appear in both the company’s existing and new locations. Costa says the move will make it quick and easy for drivers to charge their electric vehicles with their favorite Costa coffee.
The chain already has EV 176 EV charging stations in its current network, but will introduce another 200 in the coming years. The InstaVolt points can deliver up to 120 kW of power, which should make it possible to give cars 100 miles of range in just 15 minutes. The company’s chargers are widely considered to be the most reliable and allow you to pay for fast charging without contact.
InstaVolt chargers are already available at some McDonald’s, KFC, and Starbucks locations.
James Hamilton, Property Director of Costa Coffee UK and Ireland, said, “As the country’s most popular coffee shop, we want to make sure we do our part to improve customer experiences as they move to more sustainable modes of transportation to tackle climate change.
“As we continue to safely reopen our stores and implement our ambitious UK growth plans, we are proud to partner with InstaVolt to embed charging stations at multiple pass-through locations to contribute to the UK’s ever-growing EV charging infrastructure.
“It’s exciting that, in the time it takes our consumers to order and enjoy their favorite coffee on the Costa, we can add an additional 100 miles of range and help our country achieve its net-zero ambitions.”
