Injured woman freed from car in accident at Quarry Bank

A WOMAN had to be rescued from a car after a bad accident in Quarry Bank.

The accident occurred yesterday (Sunday, October 3) near the intersection of Mount Pleasant and Thorns Road around 11:03 a.m.

Police, paramedics and fire brigade were on site, the accident blocked the road and led to traffic jams.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said a woman trapped in one of the cars from her injuries had to be rescued by firefighters before she was taken to Russells Hall Hospital.

A man who was in the same car had managed to free himself – as had a man and a boy who were in the other car.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said, “We were called at 11:03 am on Sunday for reports of a two-car RTC at the intersection of Mount Pleasant and the A4036, Quarry Bank.

“The passenger in a car, a woman, was examined and treated on the spot before being freed from the vehicle with the help of the fire department and taken to Russell’s Hall Hospital.

“The passenger in the second car, a boy, suffered minor injuries and was treated on site before being taken to Russell’s Hall Hospital as a precaution.”

Firefighters from Haden Cross Station in Cradley Heath were on site in three minutes.
