M32 car fire triggered major emergency response

A car fire on the M32 approaching Bristol this morning triggered a huge emergency response. A slip road lane was closed as firefighters rushed to the scene.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service was called to junction 1 on the M32 southbound at 1.30pm where they found an electrical fire in the boot of a vehicle. Firefighters used a breathing apparatus and a high-pressure hose reel to deal with the blaze.

The service added in its statement that there were no casualties as a result of the fire. The slip road was fully reopened shortly after the blaze was extinguished.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said: “At approximately 13:30 this afternoon, two crews from Temple Fire Station were mobilized to reports of a vehicle on fire on the M32 Southbound.

“On arrival, firefighters found a small electrical fire in the boot area of ​​the vehicle. Wearing one breathing apparatus, crews used one high pressure hose reel to extinguish the fire. There were thankfully no casualties.

“Highways were also in attendance.”
