After a fatal collision between a car and a truck in Devon, a section of the M5 was completely reopened for more than nine hours.
The incident took place near Tiverton and the highway going south was closed just before midnight and reopened at around 7.45 a.m. (Tuesday 10 August) today, although one lane remained closed until 9.30 a.m.
It was a silver Saab 93 and a Scania truck about a mile south of exit 27. The male driver of the Saab suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The closure was due to salvage work and affected the lane between junction 27 of the A361 (Tiverton) and junction 28 of the A373 near Cullompton.
Traffic trapped inside the closure was diverted by the police and diverted towards Cullompton via the A38 and B3181.
In the early hours of the morning, Highways had warned England that the lockdown could possibly last into the morning rush hour.
