M62 lanes reopened after car fire near Rochdale

The Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service was called this morning about a car fire on the west carriageway of the M62.

The incident was reported just before 5 a.m. on Saturday, July 24th.

As a result, two lanes at Exit 20 (for Thornham Island A627M) had to be closed, but a third lane remained open.

Traffic cops from Transport for Greater Manchester provided on-site assistance.

Traffic was normal again between 5:30 am and 5:45 am.

The condition of the occupants of the vehicle is currently unknown, nor is the cause of the car burning.
