Witness Paul Madden said he was enjoying his usual evening stroll when he saw the car pull into the river.

“There was that blue car … I just noticed, and the next thing they do is crank the engine and hit the curb and throw themselves into the river,” he said.

According to the police, the vehicle is said to have been occupied by two people who left the scene.

“The guy jumped out the driver’s side window and jumped on the roof and then jumped in the water and jumped up, and then the two guys walked towards the Supreme Court Gardens,” Madden said.

“Ordinarily I would see a possum or a rat, not that.”
