An ambulance, paramedic and MERIT casualty were at the scene on the A5 at Montford Bridge after a collision was reported at 6:26 p.m. Thursday.
Three fire engines were also brought to the scene from Baschurch, Shrewsbury and Wellington, including the rescue tender. A Shropshire Fire and Rescue police officer and police were also present.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 6:26 pm for reports of a collision with two cars on the A5 in Montford Bridge, with an ambulance, a paramedic and a MERIT trauma doctor on site.
“Upon arrival we discovered a patient, a man, who was being treated for serious injuries before being taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment.”
Firefighters used Holmatro cutters to free the trapped man before leaving him in the care of the ambulance service.
