Met officers who searched Bianca Williams’s car face gross misconduct charges | News

Five police officers who pulled over and searched the black British athlete Bianca Williams and her partner are facing gross misconduct charges after an investigation found that they breached equality and diversity standards.

Four of them are alleged to have breached the standards for use of force after Williams, the Team GB runner, and her partner, the Portuguese sprinter Ricardo dos Santos, were pulled from their car in front of their baby son and handcuffed.

Three of the five are accused of breaching the standards for honesty and integrity and one allegedly breached standards for orders and instructions, according to an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
