Motorcyclist, 42, killed in a collision with a car in Croydon

A man was killed in a fatal collision between a car and his motorcycle on a quiet residential street in Croydon, south London.

Rescue workers rushed to the scene at the intersection of Gladeside and Woodmere Avenues in the Shirley Oaks area after being called at 6:12 p.m. on Saturday, June 26.

The 42-year-old collided with a silver Volkswagen Touran on a scrambler-style motorcycle.

He suffered a serious head injury and was pronounced dead shortly before 6.45 p.m. at the scene of the crime, despite the best efforts of the rescue workers.

His family has been notified of the death of their loved one and they are assisted by specially trained officers.

The car driver stopped on site and spoke to the officers. There have been no arrests.

An investigation has been launched to find out how the collision came about.

A police spokesman said, “The investigation is ongoing and the officers are calling on anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have a dashcam or doorbell from nearby streets to report.
