Due to concerns about the “oversized” car trend, plans were made for a compact, long-range electric car with batteries between the front and rear seats to maximize space.
In most electric cars, the batteries are located under the floor, but this can add height, weight and structural complexity, as well as an elongated wheelbase. With the new model, the rear seats would point to the rear.
The new design by the London-based engineering firm Page-Roberts should be lighter and more streamlined than comparable models and increase the range by up to a third.
