SEVIERVILLE, Tennessee (AP) – Tennessee police say two people are charged after officers find a dead monkey in a hot car parked outside a water park.
According to Sevierville police, officers found the dead nine-week-old common marmoset and a five-week-old monkey who lived in the car parked at Soaky Mountain Waterpark on Wednesday after facility management notified police.
According to police, the other monkey was taken to a veterinary clinic and was very dehydrated, but was doing better.
One of the monkey owners is charged with severe animal cruelty, the other with animal cruelty. Both are from Indiana.
According to police, further charges are possible and the investigation is ongoing.
