Police close the road for safety after the car collides with the scaffolding in Dundee

Police and emergency services were called to Riverside Drive in Dundee after a car collided with scaffolding.

Police Scotland said officers were called to the scene on Riverside Drive at around 3:25 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12.

Motorists are expected to experience delays as Riverside Drive on Riverside Avenue is closed due to the incident.

Emergency services are currently on site

It is believed that only one vehicle was involved in the incident. However, it is unclear whether anyone was injured in the vehicle.

Residents said they heard a bang and that the police arrived at the scene very quickly.

Hazel Freeman, who has been on the street for four years, said, “We only got there ten minutes before we saw the police.

“I talked to a few other people who live on our block and they said it was just the scaffolding, but it seems like it’s a crash now.

“It’s here all the time, yes it’s a busy road, but there have never been any accidents, never any problems.

“We haven’t seen the street so empty since the first closure.”

Another resident, who wanted to remain anonymous, said, “I looked out and saw that a car had just crashed into the scaffolding.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman told The Courier: “On Wednesday, May 12th at around 3:25 pm, the police received a report that a car had collided with scaffolding on Riverside Drive.

“Emergency services are present and Riverside Drive on Riverside Avenue is currently closed.”
