Prepare for the Barney Classic Car Show – News

ALL ROADS LEAD TO BARNEY: Drivers Jonathan Privett, Alan Beaty, Jonathan Wallis and Colin Graham have organized their own classic and retro car show

FRIENDS with a common love for automobiles organized their own classic car show this summer to raise the much needed money for charity.
Jonathan Wallis, Alan Beaty, Colin Graham and Jonathan Privett are enthusiastic about their classic cars and like to attend meetings.
Due to the lockdown restrictions last year, all but a few car shows were taking place, so they decided to organize their own, the Barnard Castle Classic and Retro Car Meet.
The static show, which will take place at Barnard Castle School, is scheduled for Sunday August 8th and is open to all vehicles from before the turn of the millennium.
Wallis, who will be bringing his cherry red Triumph Spitfire, said, “We’re trying to do something we enjoy, that would be good for the city, and we’re trying to raise money for charities that had a tough time last year.
“We very much hope that interest will be aroused and, ideally, we would be happy to have 50 vehicles, but I secretly hope that we will have up to 100.
“We’d like to make it an informal event, more like a family outing – bring a picnic and a blanket and have a relaxing day,” added Mr. Wallis. added
The best rated car will be awarded, with all modes of transport including tractors and motorcycles being able to participate in the show.
Plans also include an informal run through Teesdale with a guest speaker describing the details of the participating vehicles as they travel up the valley.
Entry to the auto show is £ 5 per vehicle. All proceeds from the event will be shared equally between the Teenage Cancer Trust and Barnard Castle Christmas Lights. Admission is free for spectators and everyone is encouraged to stop by during the day.
“We hope it’s going to be a great day and we want people to be welcome. We would be happy if you make a day out of it, bring a picnic blanket and eat something, ”said Wallis.
