A witness to the incident said he was amazed that no one was killed.

Paul Nuku, who works on Quay Street sidewalk development, first noticed shortly after 8 a.m. that tension was building between the police and a woman.

“There was a car that was stopped by a police officer and then he got out and hit the driver’s side window and then she started driving,” he told 1 NEWS.

Nuku started filming the ordeal on his cell phone. But he said he wasn’t prepared for what happened next.

“She did a U-turn around the intersection, parked her car, and rammed right into his driver’s seat.”

He said he couldn’t believe what he was filming.

“It was just crazy, she seemed pretty pissed off,” he said.

The woman is said to have got out of the car and turned to the officers who tried to calm her down.

She was arrested and taken away.

Police inspector Peter Raynes told 1 NEWS that the vehicle allegedly tried to run over a member of the public.

“When the police tried to get the woman out of her vehicle, she deliberately ran into the parked vehicle. Nobody was hurt, ”he said.

Nuku said it could have gotten ugly if she’d walked faster.

“She could have killed the guy.”

The police arrested the woman without incident. She is expected to be charged.
